Notice Regarding Courthouse Access and Safety

The Superior Court is open to the public to provide critical access to justice to the people of Monterey County. Effective February 16, 2022, only unvaccinated persons are required to mask in all Indoor Public Settings. More on Covid Information.

Proposed Local Rules, Effective January 1, 2024

The Monterey County Superior Court submits the below Local Court Rules for public comment as required by California Rules of Court, rule 10.613. A summary of the proposed changes also appears below. In addition, the Local Rules and Forms Committee of the Monterey County Superior Court implemented gender-neutral terms throughout the rules. An indication of “No changes” means that no substantial amendments are proposed other than typographical or grammatical corrections and formatting improvements.

The public’s input is highly valued by the Court and the Court encourages all interested parties to submit constructive comments so we may continually enhance the administration of justice. Comments may be submitted via email to The last day to comment is November 9, 2023.
