Invitation to Apply - Temporary Judge Program

Certified Temporary Judge Program

Applications are now being accepted for the Monterey County Superior Court Temporary Judge Program for the areas of Small Claims and Traffic. The Court maintains a list of certified volunteer attorneys willing to serve intermittently as a temporary judge when the Court needs judicial assistance that it cannot provide using its full-time judicial officers.

Minimum Qualifications

To become a temporary judge, you must be in good standing and have been admitted to practice as a member of the State Bar of California for ten years. For good cause, the Court may permit an attorney who has been admitted to practice for at least 5 years to serve as a temporary judge.
